Norwalk Police officers responded to Creeping Hemlock Drive for a report of a despondent male at around 10:40 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27.

The man, Joseph Sander, made threats to harm another individual within his residence, police said. When officers arrived they observed a female victim on the front steps with Sander standing next to her with a knife. She was able to escape without injury.

Sander quickly returned to the house, starting the standoff.
